Lake Louise is the biggest resort in the Canadian National Parks. You have three mountain faces with over 1,600 skiable hectares (4,000 acres) of pure Canadian mountain goodness. This place truly gives you a “resort” feel. You have great food, a giant log cabin for a chalet and some of the best skiing terrain in North America. There’s a reason the world cup ski tour makes Lake Louise a race site.
This is a very civilized way to reach the top of Lake Louise. It can be miserable outside and the gondola offers a respite from the elements. You are whisked to the top of the front side with many glorious options.
Green: You will love the wide open runs of Lake Louise. Eagle Meadows feeds you down toward the Whitehorn Lodge where you will have several other big wide open green cruisers to choose from. Be aware that green here may be different than what you’re used to.
Blue: A short traverse delivers you to Race Pitch which will take you down past the White horn lodge. Here you should make a hard right and get on the top of the world six pack chair where there are big juicy blue runs abound!
Black: A short traverse for some spectacular black to double black terrain. Any of the chute runs will get your blood running. Then as you reach the Whitehorn you can lap the upper mountain from the Top of the World or hit Mens or Ladies downhill for some ripping terrain.
Green: Don’t go here. There is a way down, but you’ll like the Glacier Express quad way better.
Blue: This is your chair! You will love the awesome big blue runs here. There’s enough to challenge your skills without scaring yourself! Bring your camera too, because the views up here are awesome!
Black: There’s a bunch of goodies for you here too. This chair makes for great group skiing, blue runs and black runs all ending back at the same chair. Fun for everyone.
Need to make some quick laps? This is the chair for you. Every type of skier will find a gem off this chair. The Wiwaxy 500 starts off this chair. A huge wide open green run for a gentle yet fun trip back to the base. For the black and blue riders there are a few great ripper runs from this chair. Need laps? Ride this!
This legendary old Triple chair has been dropping skiers and boarders into some of the best terrain in the world for a very long time. There are blacks and double blacks back here that will challenge the best riders. That said there is a huge long green run too! So bring everyone! You’ll all have fun, but be careful this chair feeds you to some serious terrain, know where you’re going.
I’m not gonna say the platter is a pleasant ride, it’s not. That’s good too, because it keeps the runs to those willing to “pay the price”. Some of the very best runs Louise has to offer are only accessed from this “special” ride up to the peak. Definitely show up with your camera here. If you don’t stop to take it in, you’re made of stone. Prepare to have your heart beat a little faster up here. This lift is better left to strong blue skiers at least.
This is another great chair feeding you some tremendous terrain, this chair is more tree run vs the open alpine of the paradise chair. Again, wide open to the expert skier with a couple for the blue and green skier. So why would a blue or green skier come to this side of the mountain? For the Larch chair!
This is the place for the blue and green skiers to have a rippin’ good time! This whole area feeds you great wide open runs with perfect pitches that will entice you to keep going again and again. There’s a couple black runs for your expert friends but they will want to join you on the other runs because they are just that fun!
Your day here at Lake Louise will be a spectacular experience, be sure to keep a trail map with you so you can find your way. Lake Louise will excite and inspire your adventurous spirit.
